Family doctors have always been extended family member for us. From my very childhood my whole family used to be under the care of our family physician- Dr. Sukanti Hajra, an elderly doctor... Whom I remember more as a family member & less as a doctor... If anyone in the family would fall sick, he would be given a fall & irrespective of who the patient is all of us, starting with my grandfather to the youngest member of the family, including the househelps, would line up to get checked... & he would check on everyone as if it was part of the course... From stomach ache, food poisoning, flu, pox to any gynae issues- he was the 1st stop for us... Anyone had hardly needed to ever visit a specialist... As we grew older we would at times grumble at his methods, but if we ever fell I'll... We would still run to him... We had blind faith that with his treatment, nothing can go wrong. After he passed away, we were truly at a loss, not knowing where to go in emergencies... When again we got a wonderful family doctor.. Dr. Digbijoy Choudhary... We again got back that same familiar feeling of complete trust & overall care... From my 60+ father to my 4+ sons... We all are under his care... Like a true friend, he is available at any point of the day, always reassuring & providing speedy diagnosis... God bless family doctors... They are truly life savers!
